Unlocking Sprint V20

Has anyone been able to do this? I upgraded while on my exes account and I paid retail cost for the phone, now I want to unlock it for domestic use. I met all the FCC requirements and Sprint level 1, 2 and 3 tier support have already said the phone is now unlocked via MEID AND IMEI. however T-Mobile and Verizon sim cards aren't recognized. The phone shows signal, but says invalid sim on status bar. I can't even change the apn settings. Any suggestions? I only need talk and text for my daughter she's good with wifi.

UPDATE: Relocked to Sprint?

I had posted this on that giant SlickDeals thread, but I wanted to get some exposure here also.

Ok here's my story, hopefully this can give people some insight:

11/17: Attempted to order 4 Essential Phones via Sprint.com - failed, so I had to call in and was successfully able to order 4. Total: $119.07 (4 x $25 downpayment, $10 shipping, taxes)

11/20: Received 4 Essential Phones in the mail. Tried to use T-Mobile SIM to boot them up to see if any were unlocked initially - all were locked. Put the Sprint SIM back in for the time being. Bought out the lease to own the phones. Total $508.81 (4 x (18 months x $5, $30 buyout, taxes, fees)). Chat assured me that I own the phones at this point. No other billing required

11/22 morning: I only have 1 Essential Phone on me at this time (other 3 were at home), checked to see if UICC unlock worked and it did. Phone was unlocked. Used the T-Mobile SIM card now and service is so much better.

11/22 afternoon: Got an email from Sprint regarding new billing updates, didn't look into it cause I thought it was just another email reminder or something.

11/22 evening: I was checking my network settings and noticed that the network still said Sprint when it had the T-Mobile SIM inside. I thought that resetting the phone would change it (no issues, just wanted to see T-Mobile instead of Sprint). After rebooting, the phone said 'no SIM card' (T-Mobile SIM still inside), so I rebooted again and it said the same. I put the Sprint SIM back in and UICC was LOCKED again.

11/23 morning: Tried to swap out SIMs again, but UICC was still LOCKED. Contacted their chat to see what was up. Looked closely at the email I got the prior day and it was showing that I owed a bill of $229.39. Checked the IMEI status of the phone that I had with me and now it shows that it has 'Financial responsibility and/or contract'. Had to get the chat escalated to a supervisor to see what the hell was going on:

Uicc Unlock Error

What the supervisor pretty much told me was that after getting the new bill, the original $627.88 that I paid FOR THE PHONES, no longer all went towards THE PHONES, it was automatically split between the phones and the active plan. It was 'automatically adjusted' and there is 'no way that the devices can be separated from the bill'.

tl;dr: I owned the phones for a day and then I don't own them anymore since Sprint decided that they can move my money around.

Anyone have any ideas for next steps? Can't do trade in since I don't 'own the phones' anymore.
